Visit Yorkshire in your caravan Sample the delights of Yorkshire

At Caravan Guard insurance, we are proud of our Yorkshire heritage.

From the hustle and bustle of cultural city life to the peace and tranquillity of its famous countryside, Yorkshire can cater for every tourism desire.

If you need some inspiration of where to take your tourer over the two Bank Holidays in May, why not head for beautiful Yorkshire and sample some of the stunning attractions it offers.

Here, we offer three suggestions of what to do in the area, and also give details of nearby campsites where you can pitch up your caravan.

Visit: Haworth - situated at the edge of the Pennine moors in West Yorkshire, the historic and picturesque village of Haworth was made famous by the Brontë sisters, who penned their famous books while living there. In fact, their original home is preserved as it would have been in their day and contains many of their original possessions.

Brontë country, as it is known, has much to offer the visitor, from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, a steam railway used as the location for the classic film The Railway Children, to the self-guided walk to Top Withens, thought to be the inspiration for Emily Brontë’s novel, Wuthering Heights. There’s also a great selection of museums and stately homes to visit in the area as well as shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Stay at: Upwood Holiday Park, Blackmoor Road, Haworth. Telephone: 01535 644242. Website: www.upwoodpark.co.uk

Visit: Yorkshire Dales – renowned for some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, the Dales are rightfully described as an “outdoor paradise”. Attractions in the region include the Wensleydale Creamery, which is visited by more than 200,000 people every year and includes a museum, that guides you through the history of Wensleydale Cheese and its production through the centuries and, of course, a “cheese experience” tour.

While in the area take time out to visit Middleham Castle, the childhood and favourite home of Richard III. It’s suitable for picnics and welcomes dogs too.

Stay at: Bainbridge Ings Caravan and Campsite, Hawes. Telephone: 01969 667354. Website: www.bainbridge-ings.co.uk. *As recommended by our Director, Sally Wilby*

Visit: Yorkshire Coast – with more than 100 miles of varied shoreline to explore, the coastline provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fresh air while searching out those secluded coves, sandy beaches and pretty fishing villages. Some of the areas to head for are the flat golden sands of Bridlington, the historic seaside town of Scarborough, the beautiful fishing harbour of Whitby or why not enjoy a fishing trip from Filey.

Stay at: Cayton Village Caravan Park, Cayton Bay, Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Telephone: 01723 583171. Website: www.caytontouring.co.uk Caravan Guard Insurance
