Bailey Pegasus 554 exterior

Following on from our introduction of the Bailey Pegasus range in September, Caravan Guard is delighted to present the first ever review of the Bailey Pegasus 554!

The Bailey Pegasus 554 is not only a new layout to the Bailey range of touring caravans but a pioneering design, say Liz and Dave King.

"It has an end shower room with a fully lined shower cubicle but it's in the bedroom department, if you'll pardon the expression, that the excitement happens!

Fixed bed in lounging mode

The fixed double bed is an innovative, transverse, yet retractable island design. It's just perfect for lounging on in considerable comfort during the day, and you can even watch the 15ins flat screen home entertainment system, included in the purchase, at its dedicated TV station.

Just lift the foot of the bed and it extends to its full length for nocturnal luxury and you can incline against the padded headboard before reclining in the arms of Morpheus. There is a wardrobe, drawer and cupboard each side of the bed with cupboards over the bed and two large under bed drawers. We liked that. Furthermore, Jonic, the specialist caravan bedding company has designed a range of bedding specially to fit the shape of the Pegasus 554 double bed.

The offside kitchen has a new design sink, with a separate washing up bowl and draining board. The over-sink chopping board has a natty little cut out on the edge, just ideal for pouring the tea slops into the sink. Four small rubber up stands on each corner of the sink marry up with four little recesses on the chopping board so it stays in place, even during towing. The new style four burner gas hob has handily positioned controls, and a new style pull-out storage basket under the sink will hold lots of tins and jars and other kitchen paraphernalia for the chef de cuisine.

There is another dedicated TV station on the dresser opposite the kitchen and the living area is a standard U shape; we liked the extra wide front window shelf.

The interior GRP wall lining is not designed to be punctured by screws so we thought that vacuum suction baskets on the wall in the kitchen and bathroom would hold all the necessary accoutrements.

We liked the interior lighting and the exterior LED over the entrance door, and the illuminated grab handles are a dazzling sight, but didn't dazzle us as we towed the caravan at night.

Verdict

All in all, we liked it!"
