An excellent article, especially if you have kids, and they have a few days off school. However, if you are retired like me, I would advise avoiding going away for the Bank Holiday as the increased traffic, stress and cost is just not worth it! Roads and sites will be packed, the cost of a pitch will be increased, and you will probably come home feeling you need another holiday to get over it. My suggestion for families who have to take the Bank Holiday, is to book on to a CL or CS from either the Caravan Club or Camping and Caravanning Club, and enjoy a much more relaxing break at a fraction of the cost of a commercial site. They won’t have the swimming pool or amusements of a big site, but if you head for the seaside or somewhere like Alton Towers, the kids will be happy as well.
