One of two range-topping, six-berth, twin-axle Quattro models, with the initials EW you can guess what’s coming – this Sprite has a full-width end washroom. And that’s just one of a number of family-friendly features of this competitively priced tourer.
Considering Sprite is a name that’s been synonymous with cut-price caravanning for nearly 70 years, the Quattro is pleasantly upmarket – the first sign of this being the three-window front end, although the window-less, one-piece door is enough to bring you back to earth.
The Quattro does, however, benefit from parent company Swift’s Smart Plus timber-free construction, with GRP front and rear panels as well as fully-bonded roof. The floor is 44mm thick, with Styrofoam insulation and this, too, boasts a GRP exterior.
And it’s a particularly spacious interior, even by normal twin-axle standards. The nearside kitchen has a Thetford three-ring cooker with separate oven and grill. There’s a circular sink immediately to its left, with worktop space for the add-on drainer and a Thetford fridge below.
There’s also space for a cutlery drawer and cupboard – the former is surely too small for a family of six.
There are no such complaints about the double-doored wardrobe opposite the main bed, alongside which there’s dedicated open storage for the main table.
Up front, the seating is L-shaped, allowing an offside picture window to let light really flood in – and a good counterbalance to woodwork that’s medium to dark in hue. The upholstery is functional rather than flash (there is an alternative) – but it’s easy enough to add your own splashes of colour if you want to liven things up.
The seating makes up into a double that’s an acceptable 2.06m x 1.34m. That’s slightly larger than the 1.94m x 1.32m rear double, although this benefits from a Duvalay mattress. There’s also loads of storage underneath, accessible internally or via an outside hatch.
A pleated divider and fold-down kitchen worktop extension/TV ledge add some bedroom privacy, as required.
Completing its six berths, there’s no surprise to see a daytime dinette that converts to two bunk beds that are ideal for children.
All this still leaves the roomiest of washrooms across the back. The shower cubicle here is fully-lined, and there’s an upmarket Ecocamel Orbit showerhead. And, even with the swivel-bowl toilet and centrally-located fixed basin, there’s still a bit of dressing room space in here. Cupboards and open shelving provide a decent level of storage, too.
There’s some safety to be added, for sure. And it will be hard to forego the attractions of the Diamond Pack (as fitted here, along with the panoramic roof window), which gives you alloy wheels, an AKS stabiliser, Al-Ko Secure Wheel Lock receivers, flyscreen door, microwave oven, stereo and a couple of scatter cushions. All for an extra £595. Add on the alarm (£260) and wheel locks and this will help to reduce your caravan insurance premium.
There’s certainly applause for coming in at under 1,600kg maximum weight and still retaining a decent 200kg-plus payload margin. You’ll still need a hefty towing vehicle, of course, but this is a twin-axle.
Compare it with sister model RB – the EW wins out for its washroom. Thereafter, the Sprite Quattro EW has few, if any, direct rivals.
Verdict: A winner for six if you want a full washroom
Plus: Twin axle towing stability, proper size washroom, lots of space for the money
Minus: Still a bit basic in places

I have viewed a few Sprites although the recommended dealers don’t seem to have many in stock and kept fobbing me off saying look at the quarto same design. I like the sprites because of the weights and I am allowed to tow a twin axel with my family 7 seater, I like the layout on 1 but don’t like the no oven and grill bit on one of the 6 birth models, I think an oven and grill is a must with 2 adults and 4 children.
