A venture into space
There’s also an addition to the line-up. Newcomer model the Coachman Laser 620 Xtra is also unusual. You’ll have to do some hard searching these days to get a twin axle, extra-wide bodied caravan without permanent beds. But do take a look at the sheer amount of living space you get here.
The Coachman Laser 620 Xtra has bold exterior looks thanks to its silver/grey sides, with white front and rear panels and details like the raised graphics and black grab handles and trim. The two-front locker design has the Coachman family look, but it’s inside where the real action lies.
The floorplan is a re-working of a formerly highly popular caravan layout of standard front lounge, plus side dinette and full-width rear washroom. There’s a simply massive kitchen, extensive seating and a huge room for your ablutions… but no permanent beds.
And that’s the big secret. The lack of ready-made beds really does free up so much extra space for daytime living. Equally, converting those front settees into either two slightly short singles (they’re 1.85m x 0.73m) or a positively generous 2.20m x 1.72m transverse double is a pretty straightforward affair.
And, of course, even with the beds made, you can still have seating thanks to the wider-than-average dinette directly opposite the kitchen (which, in turn, can be adapted into a bed for a third person) – the fixed pedestal leg table here is height-adjustable.
It’s certainly one of the biggest kitchens you’ll see in any tourer – with huge expanses of stylish White Pebble composite worktops on either side of the cooker, also a flip-up extension to the chef’s far right. Plus there are two banks of drawers as well as plenty of lockers both lower- and upper-level, the latter with a wipe-clean gloss white finish.
Note also the neatly integrated extractor unit as well as the location of the microwave oven – over worktop rather than directly above the hob.
A huge, 153-litre capacity fridge/freezer is nearby, between the dinette and washroom.
As for the washroom in the Coachman Laser 620 Xtra… yes, it’s also huge… with a full-size shower cubicle, swivel-bowl toilet, a central countertop basin served by an elegant swan-necked mixer tap, and again good storage along with all the fitments you’d expect in a premium tourer.
You won’t struggle for clothes storage, either. Even the presence of a double wardrobe with two low-level drawers in the washroom doesn’t detract from the abundance of elbow room. Plus, there’s a further suite of shelved lockers on the nearside.
Well-made and well-equipped are Coachman watchwords, but it’s good to see there’s no stinting on safety and caravan security, with Al-Ko’s ATC, plus two axle wheel locks and a Phantom alarm, all as standard. For more caravan insurance discounts you’ll also need a caravan tracking device on a twin axle in this price range.
The luxury is there, too, of course, right down to fittings such as soft-close drawers and locker doors, dimmable touch control reading lights in the lounge, sprung-interior seating and a whole lot more.

We have one. Although it doesn’t have a fixed bed, it gives you so much more living space in the day. With loads of storage we haven’t been able to fill all the cupboards. Not even on a two week holiday. The bed take all of two minutes to put up. I would recommend this to anyone. Build quality not had any issues to really complain about. Had a few silly warranty jobs done.
Cannot satisfy everyone all the time. Lucky we’re not all the same. I think this is the most desirable caravan on the market.
I think its highly overpriced. No seperate bedroom area, for such a large caravan is not my idea of a luxury 2 berth caravan. who in their right mind would use an oversized mixing bowl for a bathroom sink! come on designers, make things stylish, not outlandish! contemprary and modern for todays market not impractical ideas.
