Exciting news from Adria…
Meet the fab four
For 2023, the Slovenian manufacturer is re-acquainting itself with Mercedes to bring you a new line-up of four flagship A-class models under the Supersonic name. Perhaps understandably, given their exclusive nature, they’ll be sold through just six of Adria’s UK dealers.
Look out for two tag axle Supersonics – 8.9m long 890 LL (single beds) and 890 LC (island bed) – and two single axle models, of which the 780 SL here features fixed single beds (if you prefer an island bed it’s the otherwise near-identical 780 DC you’ll want).
With 3,520kg Mass in Running Order and 4,500 maximum weight figures, the 780 SL is no lightweight. The Al-Ko chassis sits low – in turn allowing Adria to use a double floor construction – and also arguably offers a better ride, handling and all-round road manners than the standard Merc’ running gear.
It will be available with right-hand drive for the UK, of course, but the one-piece, windowed habitation door will stay UK offside. At 65cm, it’s wider than many motorhome doors, making for easier access. Thanks to an electric flip-out step, there’s also a fairly low step-in height.
Like its Supersonic stablemates, the 780 SL is a full four-berth. The all-silver bodywork, sides, and lower skirting are aluminium, with GRP for the front and rear panels, roof and underfloor protection etc – all set off by black trim work, including alloy wheels and an awning.
Upmarket fittings to the Adria Supersonic Supreme include coach-style mirrors, while all windows behind the cab area are flush-fitting.
There’s also what Adria calls a Central Service Box – i.e. a single housing for the mains hook-up, mains and TV aerial sockets, plus extra storage, in a locker that’s accessible from outside as well as in.
There’s a roomy enough front lounge, with the Aguti cab seats, which are easy to swivel to face the bench seat, which also provides safe travel for two passengers (it also has Isofix).
The fixed pedestal leg table comes with height and fore-and-aft adjustability.
In lieu of a fixed seat behind the driver’s seat, there’s a loose footstool that can be positioned anywhere – it also frees up floor space, adding to the roomy feeling in this front zone.
There’s an elegance to the kitchen, with its three-burners-in-a-line gas hob, and square sink with swan-neck mixer tap. Such is the arrangement, there’s a fair bit of permanent worktop, but no extra extension. A Thetford Duplex oven/grill combination will be in UK versions.
To the right of the kitchen, the slimline fridge/freezer has a massive 177-litre capacity.
The style continues with the washroom facilities inside the Adria Supersonic Supreme 780 SL motorhome – split between a shower cubicle on the UK nearside and a toilet room across the corridor. The shower’s twin doors open to reveal a swooping main panel and water-efficient showerhead on a riser bar. Underfoot is a soakaway rather than a conventional plug hole.
The toilet room has the near-ubiquitous Thetford swivel-bowl loo, plus a countertop basin on an angled section of the worktop. There’s a large oval mirror, complemented by a matching toothbrush mug and soap dispenser, a locker for your toiletries as well as a hatch to the wardrobe.
At the back of the Adria Supersonic Supreme 780 SL, the permanent single beds (both 1.98m x 0.81m) sit three steps up over a generous garage storage space, accessible from either side outside. If you want a double bed, that can be achieved by filling the gap between the singles.
Or, you might prefer the electrically operated, 1.90m x 1.50m drop-down double over the cab area.
Adria’s UK arm isn’t messing about with extras and options packs on these models. As standard, the 780 SL has Mercedes’ 170bhp engine mated to a super-smooth nine-speed automatic gearbox. In the cab area, there’s Mercedes’ MBUX media system – a large (10.25in) touchscreen dominates the centre of the dashboard, from which you can control everything from sat nav to DAB radio, music streaming, rear view monitoring and much more.
In addition, Adria’s Mach app allows you to remotely monitor and control aspects such as the heating, hot water, fridge, lighting, battery status, vehicle levelling and – again – a whole lot more.
As standard, there’s also everything from a 140Watt solar panel to twin leisure batteries, Truma Aventa air conditioning, Alde Compact 3030 central heating system etc.
UK versions will also get gloss white locker doors – which should go some way towards alleviating what is otherwise a rather dark interior. That’s also something you might want to bear in mind when you’re making your choice from the various upholstery and wall-covering no-cost options.

Excellent and very informative
Sounds very nice but… I bought an Adria Coral Supreme in 2020 and have had so many problems and no support from the dealer that I would not consider trading up with this brand.
