Billed as a four-berth, there’s no doubt it’s couples who are the real targets for this baby Adamo from Bailey. Baby, because of an overall length just a centimetre the wrong side of 6m (or, a 20-footer, in old money), the Bailey Adamo 60-4 here is also lowest priced of what is now a five-model line-up.
In this video, we take a look inside the 2023 Bailey Adamo 60-4:
Keeping it compact with a Ford foundation
All are based on Ford’s Transit which, as is the Bailey way, comes with a one-specification-suits-all. Luckily, that spec’ is high. Automatic transmission, allied to Ford’s latest powerful 160bhp engine is just the starting point. There’s no searching the options list for things like alloy wheels either.
The cab is well-appointed, too – from air conditioning to lots of good storage to the padded, car-like steering wheel with multiple switches – albeit Bailey stops short of a full infotainment system (check out the options, though). The standard offering is a single-DIN unit that gives you DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity. Cab blinds are standard on all Adamo motorhomes now, too.
There are also a host of safety features in this Bailey Adamo 60-4 motorhome, going way beyond twin airbags, to automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, to make your drive all the most re-assuring.
At this sort of length, too, it’s that bit more manoeuvrable than a larger coachbuilt motorhome – something you’ll also notice especially when it comes to parking. And, it’s a driving licence-friendly 3,500kg maximum weight, with plenty of payload.
An intriguing addition to the Transit is the FordPass Connect app, which not only gives you full updates on the Transit (oil and water levels, tyre pressures, battery condition etc) but will also warn you if it’s been left unlocked. It will even tell you where to find your vehicle if you’ve lost it!
The Bailey Adamo 60-4 floorplan is one that’s come to the fore in recent years. There’s a front lounge comprising the swivelled cab seats and two inward-facing settees around a fixed pedestal leg table, where the top is hinged to make it easier to move around.
It also has electric height adjustment, and can be moved manually fore-and-aft, so there should be no problem getting the most convenient dining position.
Likewise, there’s a slide-out, flatscreen TV holder just inside the habitation door.
It’s arguably sat a little high for lounge occupants, but you could easily find yourself watching your favourite programmes from the three-position, electrically operated drop-down double bed that’s directly over the seating below.
The lounge also converts to a second double bed. The Adamo 60-4 motorhome has one more trick up its sleeve – the fold-up Aguti travel seats, with Isofix, in each settee base. As you’d expect from Bailey, one of the leading lights in motorhome travel safety, this seating is fully tested.
Behind the lounge, the kitchen is along the offside. Slightly L-shaped, the main fittings here are a Thetford cooker with dual-fuel hob (three gas burners, one electric hotplate) and separate oven and grill, with a large circular sink next to it.
There’s a worktop extension, plus the main cover for the hob is the same material as the rest of the worktop. Storage is a bit tight, though. And you’ll lose the main, upper-level locker space if you want to add a microwave oven.
The fridge/freezer is across the corridor, set at a convenient height off the floor, and has a generous 141-litre capacity.
Step up from the kitchen and you enter a very impressive, full-width washroom via a solid door. There’s a swivel-bowl toilet with wardrobe as well as a shelved locker beyond, a countertop square(ish) handbasin, and a separate shower cubicle with folding door access.
Other useful features here range from the window and mirror, riser bar for the shower, hanging rail for wet clothing and more. Most important of all, is the space for moving around in.
As mentioned, overall equipment levels in this Bailey Adamo 60-4 motorhome are excellent. Heating and hot water are courtesy of Truma’s Combi 4E system. An 80Watt solar panel is also included and there’s pre-wiring for on-board wi-fi. Plus, that reversing camera will attract a discount on your motorhome insurance with Caravan Guard.
As is the Bailey way, factory-fitted options are kept to an absolute minimum (see opposite). But don’t forget Bailey’s accessories arm, Prima Leisure – which also stocks a number of Adamo-only additions you might like to consider.
