When you’re on a roll, keep going. That’s the message from Adria as it unveils extra Twin models for the 2024 season, moving up a notch and using MAN’s TGE 4.180 as their base.
In this video we take a look inside the 2024 two-berth Adria Twin Max 680 SGX campervan.
Taking it to the Max
Appropriately enough, there are two Twin Max’s – the 680 SGX here has a rear double bed, while sister model the 680 SLB has twin singles. These aren’t small vehicles, either – both are an imposing 6.84m long.
For the SGX, it’s a fully slatted, electrically-operated central bed section and it’s just one of the interior highlights. You can sleep on it longitudinally – it’s officially 1.98m x 1.65m – but do note the 200kg weight limit.
It’s not a rear lounge in any way. Instead, you get an excellent area for carrying bikes etc, with plenty of lashing points for keeping your cargo safe, along with various lockers in the fixed units along each side.
At the front of the Adria Twin Max 680 SGX, though, is a classic van conversion seating area using the swivelled cab seats and the bench seat that also offers safe travel for two and includes Isofix.
The sliding door of this Adria campervan is on the UK offside, with the kitchen just inside.
Typical for layouts like this, the kitchen facilities are minimal – there’s a camper-style stainless steel combination unit housing two gas rings and a sink, while the slide-out facility and drop-in worktop extension is a sturdy and stylish offering.
Just the one mains socket, along with its location, isn’t ideal, but there are others in the lounge, along with USB portals front and back.
Opposite the kitchen, the Adria Twin Max 680 SGX campervan has a rather compact washroom, accessed by a tambour door. Here, the fixed handbasin is on its own wall, which swings around to create a shower cubicle as needed.
Unlike many campervans with this arrangement, Adria gets credit for fitting the kind of window that’s such a boon for ventilation and helping the whole room dry efficiently after showering.
There’s also good storage around the swivel-bowl toilet – high-level locker, lower-level open shelving – and key fittings such as a good-sized mirror, plastic wall linings, two plugholes etc. Where it falls short, almost literally, is space, especially for showering.
As is the Adria way, in standard trim the Twin Max is kept basic, although Adria’s All Inclusive Pack kicks things off and is standard. You’ll find it easy to get carried away with the optional extras available, although the various Packs – despite commanding hefty premiums – are where best value lies. Nevertheless, they pump up the price – especially the £13,700-plus MAN Lux Pack, which covers plenty of items many will consider essential (a full range that extends to alloy wheels up, upgraded infotainment system, heated windscreen, adaptive cruise control and much more). On the plus side, there’s plenty of payload to cope with optional extras and, indeed, extra loads.
And, with everything from flush-fitting windows to a fixed drying rail in the washroom to an electric dump valve for the waste water, all the signs are Adria has plenty of practical fittings in place.
Note also, that it’s a limited edition run for 2024. So – if you’re interested – you might just want to think about getting to see one ASAP. Just make sure you have C1 status on your driving licence before you go any further.
