Accommodation for four with overnights catered for by bunk beds and a double made from the lounge seating, but with an overall length of just 4.5m and an eminently towable maximum weight of 850kg? Welcome to the world of tiny tourers, where caravans from Freedom have been the leading advocate for over 30 years now.
The Freedom Wayfarer Quad caravan is a newcomer for the 2025 season, and it stays true to the small, light, practical approach that’s evolved over that time.
In this video we take a walk around the 2025 Freedom Wayfarer Quad caravan:
A typical feature of small caravans like this is the door is at the back.
There’s a single, opening window at the front. It’s set high, to allow for a relatively large full-width locker, complete with a proper sturdy chrome handle, capable of housing two 6kg propane or 7kg butane gas cylinders as well as the spare wheel that’s supplied as standard. There’s room for more in here but do be wary of exceeding the 70kg noseweight limit.
That pronounced curved to the front panel suggests good aerodynamics – yet there’s still sufficient room for a six-footer to stand up (just) in the main living area (although you’ll have to stoop as you step in initially).
There’s U-shaped seating around a free-standing table at the front of the Freedom Wayfarer Quad, with the two fixed bunk beds stretching along the offside.
Those beds are on standard one-piece mattresses measuring some 1.85m x 0.50m, with curtains for privacy and a reading light for each, while the double from the lounge seating is an equally impressive 1.90m x 1.18m.
No surprises it’s a small kitchen area. Even so, there’s a two-burner hob with stainless steel sink combination, plus a 50-litre, 12V Dometic fridge with a slimline locker next to it. Also here are two USB charging ports and a mains socket, but there’s a distinct lack of worktop.
Storage is, of course, another aspect that’s hugely compromised when you get down to a caravan as small as this. There’s space in the seat bases, but you’ll have to move any cushions out of the way to access it.
The Wayfarer Quad’s washroom has a Thetford bench toilet and a flip-down handbasin as well as an opaque window to optimise ventilation.
Plus there’s a good sized mirror and a single, small locker. But if you want a shower – and a hot water supply – you’re going to have to reach for the optional extras list.
A sample of some of the key options is listed opposite (or below on mobile), which gives you some idea of how you can tailor your Wayfarer to suit your lifestyle and/or budget. As always, starting with the Packs means you’ll get best value for your money.
