Auto-Trail has given a refresh to its Imala range for 2026, going into the season with four models.
They’re all low-profile coachbuilts based on Fiat’s Ducato chassis-cab, with a choice of engines and transmissions, although it’s the Media Pack (Avtex smart TV, Pioneer infotainment system, colour reversing camera, 200Watt solar panel, TV aerial, steering wheel controls) that you’ll find harder to resist. It adds £1,595 to the initial £78,551 on-the-road price.
You can also choose from four cab colours at no extra cost. Ditto for a chassis upgrade to 3,650kg – with a price to pay if you want to go all the way up to 4,400kg. There’s a whole host of optional extras should you wish to take advantage of the extra payload.
Bodywork features include a large opening sunroof in the overcab section, alloy wheels, one-piece habitation door with window and low step-in height, plus semi-flush fitting, aluminium-framed, tinted windows. There’s the usual all-GRP coachbuilding, with access both sides to a small but still useful full-width garage area, and fixing points for a bike rack on the back wall. That’s a new rear lights configuration, too.
But you can also configure the floorplan to suit your requirements.
The Auto-Trail Imala 730 motorhome starts off as a two-berth with a two-settee front lounge, rear island bed floorplan.
A drop-down electric bed (1.93m x 1.23m) and alternative seating are available if you want to bring it up to full four-berth status – both fittings shown on the example here, the half-dinette option also allowing for a side-fixing table with swing-out extension.
In this video we take a walkthrough the 2026 Auto-Trail Imala 730 motorhome:
That island double is 1.86m x 1.34m and is flanked by wardrobes, with lockers overhead. The bed itself is retractable and has an upper section to raise if you want to sit up. There are also handy ledges each side. The whole metal-framed, slatted base also hinges up for access to a large storage area.
Cabinets and drawers have black push buttons and soft close fixings and overhead lockers are in a new ‘San Marco’ wood.
Open lockers in the bedroom have nifty elasticated straps to hold loose items in place and there’s a slim dressing area with a mirror and shelving.
The Imala 730’s kitchen extends along the offside mid-‘van area and is fully equipped in terms of its cooker (dual-fuel hob, separate oven and grill) plus a high-level, neatly housed Russell Hobbs flatbed microwave oven, complemented by a slimline Thetford fridge with freezer (total capacity 142 litres).
The sink is inset and in stainless steel with a loose cover and the kitchen’s L-shape gives that bit more in terms of worktop space, while splash protection has also been enhanced.
Kitchen storage ranges from drawers to upper and lower lockers, plus a small rack for spice jars etc. There’s also a single mains socket.
The washroom is on the nearside and en-suite to the bed. It’s home to a fully lined, seam-free shower cubicle complete with fixed hanging rail and corner chrome shelving, with the shower outlet in black on a riser bar.
Also here is a swivel-bowl toilet and fixed handbasin with click-clack plug. That leaves space for a good-sized, illuminated mirror, toilet roll holder and high- and low-level locker storage, with a rooflight providing the all-important ventilation.
Truma’s CombiNeo now provides the heating and hot water, with its promise of a continuous supply of the latter once up to temperature. And there’s a new grey carpet throughout the Imala 730.
Flexibility is the Auto-Trail Imala 730 motorhome’s big ally – whether you want to alter the floorplan or upgrade the chassis. Even in standard trim, though, you might just find it offers all you need.
