Good article. I use a EE dongle that is on a contract. It gives great coverage and can be used anywhere …van, hotels, home. It’s our main source of internet and has never let us down on all our travels. Gets much better signal than phone. I’m actually using it now high up in French Alps.

I use an old mobile phone with teathering enabled. I put it in a waterproof bag tied to the top of a pole. Not pretty but cheap!

I have a Kuma WiFi hotspot booster kit fitted in my caravan – it is very good and acts as a VPN as it is password protected , however It only works if it is getting a signal from the on site WiFi which is intermittent at best and frequently drops out very frustrating.

  4. Alan Rank says:

I purchased a Maxview ROAM which I fitted myself . It is a simple DIY process .The unit works fantastically well . I have had full signal everywhere I have visited . I purchased an Amazon Firestick 4 K for my TV and will probably never use my Satellite dish again .

  5. Mark R says:

I have a similar (read same) kit as the Kuma and if you look on the web page for the supplier of item 4 you will find it – at a fraction of the price. Had mine 4 years and it hasn’t let me down yet. It won’t deliver you fibre speeds from a poor network but it will allow you to connect multiple devices.

I bought my Wifi Router from http://www.motorhomewifi.com/ And have to say that after researching routers for Motorhomes I am pleased that I took their impartial advice, they are a family business and know the mobile Wi-fi business very very well and of course with the cost of mobile router systems I wanted the best advice. The system I bought at the time may be outdated Now but works very well, I have looked at their products and may update later but as I said they certainly know the mobile Wifi business. Lat but not least cheapest is not always best .
