We were delighted to welcome hometown Paralympian Hannah Cockroft CBE back to our offices as she celebrated an incredible 15 years of sponsorship with us.
Now a nine-time Paralympic gold medallist, Hannah brought along two of her latest gold medals from the Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020 Games, where she once again dominated the T34 100m, 400m and 800m events. Staff were thrilled to see the medals up close and congratulate her on her continued success on the world stage.
During her visit, Hannah also put her baking credentials to the test as the celebrity judge of The Great Caravan Guard Bake Off. Having appeared on The Great Celebrity Bake Off in 2019, she was perfectly placed to crown the company’s Star Baker after sampling a mouth-watering spread of staff-made cakes – all part of their Macmillan fundraising day.
Our long-standing support has played a key role in Hannah’s journey, helping to cover the costs of specialist racing equipment, replacement wheels, gloves, physiotherapy, training and travel. To continue this commitment, Associate Director Laura Wilby presented Hannah with a cheque for £2,000.
“Caravan Guard has been with me since the very beginning,” said Hannah. “They helped fund my first ever racing wheelchair and have stuck by me through every medal, every challenge and every milestone. I simply couldn’t have achieved what I have without their support. To come home and share my Tokyo and Paris medals with the team who backed me from day one means a huge amount.”
Laura Wilby added: “Hannah is an inspiration to all of us. We’re incredibly proud to have supported her for 15 years, watching her grow from a promising young athlete into one of Britain’s greatest ever Paralympians, and a shining advocate for inclusivity in sports and media. Her determination and positivity reflect our company value to care completely, and it’s a privilege to continue playing a part in her success.”
As Hannah continues her training and looks ahead to future championships, Caravan Guard remains committed to supporting one of Halifax’s greatest sporting ambassadors.
