If you own a motorhome, you already know the freedom it brings – waking up to new views, chasing the sunshine, and hitting the road whenever the mood strikes. It’s not just about touring the UK’s beautiful coastline and countryside though. For many, the road to freedom extends into Europe.
In our latest poll, we want to know if you take your motorhome across the Channel into Europe? Click below to vote now.
Whether it’s the mountains of Austria, the beaches of Spain, the lakes of Italy, or the markets of France — every motorhomer has a favourite European destination. So after you’ve cast your vote, drop a comment below and tell us where your motorhome has taken you and why you love it. Your experiences might just inspire someone else’s next adventure.
And don’t forget, we offer comprehensive European cover and breakdown as optional extras on top of our standard motorhome insurance policy. If taken out, our European insurance and breakdown covers you for up to nine months in Europe within the policy year.
If you need European cover or breakdown they can be added to your motorhome policy from the first day of cover, or added to your existing policy with a quick phone call at any point during your policy term.
We’ll report back the results of our motorhoming in Europe poll in September.
Lovely varied Europe! Outstanding travel exploration. Restorative bathing in Thermopolae hot springs, riding out Arctic Ocean storm at Sletnes Fyr & golden Eagle mating dance nearby, wintering in Spain & Portugal, Gdansk, Estonia & its trains, S. Uist & sea Eagle nests (& corncrakes, golden beaches), vineyard tours, Austrian tolls, mountain tunnels, island ferries. 30 years roaming all of Western Europe & more to come!
Wow that sounds amazing Piers! Thanks for sharing
Rome is the place to be – set up at Hu Camping and they have a free shuttle bus to take you the 15min journey to and from the city center. Stop off at the hot springs Cascate del Mulino (Saturnia) on the way down. A set of natural thermal waterfalls and pools with a constant temperature of about 37°C, popular for their beauty and free public access. There is even a motorhome site a short walk away, only 14 Euro’s and night including EHU, or you can book for a few hrs if passing.
We have been to France, Germany where you avoid the tolls in France, Austria, Switzerland but we preferred Austria, into Italy down to the coast then Pisa across Tuscany to the east coast San Marino before heading back, amazing sights along the many different countries. Next we Slovenia and Croatia on our list. If you like it stay if you don’t drive on !!!!
Thanks for sharing Mike. Very jealous of your adventures!
Hard to beat N France – Britanny, Normandy and the Loire area. Not too hot, lovely food and wine and easily and quickly accessible from lots of places in the UK
Vulettes sur Mer, just over an hour from Dieppe. Catch the morning ferry from Newhaven and you will be there late afternoon. Municipal Camping is close to the beach and a great place to stay.
France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal. Really enjoyed Northern Portugal. Next year Germany!
Cinque Terra. An beautiful place, and great sites in Levanto
We like exploring the wines of France, so have had 3 themed trips based around wine areas: The villages of Beaujolais (all 10 with wines named after them) tasting as we went; a hunt for a white burgundy we used to drink regularly 30 years ago, but the UK supply dried up, – Pernand-Vergelesses – usually only the red makes it to the UK, but the white is delicious and loved by the French; Last but not least could we fill our van with Vouvray, from the Loire valley, another lovely white but very different from white burgundy, sweeter, and its’ sparkling stable mate (well we needed a dozen bottles of fizz for a special birthday celebration!).
France, spain, portugal, netherlands, belgium, austria, switzerland, germany, lichtenstein, norway, denmark, sweden and…the isle of wight!
Been to France camping since 1989. A favourite this year was Camping du Bois St Hilaire near Poitiers. Run by two Brits, Henry & Katherine, with friendly service, woodland location, peaceful surroundings. Bakery 10 mins walk. Not expensive. Suit old & young.
Sounds lovely Colin. Thanks for sharing
I would really like to travel through France, to Chamonix, then onwards into Switzerland and Italy before turning, heading back through Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Belgium. This would take me back 40 years, to my teens when I worked with a coach tour operator. It would give me a chance to share with my family the views and food I was lucky enough to experience at a young age.
