POLL NOW CLOSED – Thanks to everyone who voted
As you get set for another year of adventures in your leisure vehicle, our latest poll seeks to find out how many owners take their furry companions along the for the ride!
For many dog owners, they’re more than just pets—they’re cherished members of the family. But when it comes to hitting the open road, do you pack up your caravan, motorhome, or campervan with or without your canine companion in tow?
In our first poll of 2024 we want to know if you travel with a dog or dogs? And more importantly, why or why not?
Here are a few reasons why touring with a dog or dogs might be a no-brainer for some:
Companionship: A dog can make even the longest journeys more enjoyable.
Adventure: Taking a dog on your travels can encourage you to venture off the beaten path, discover new places, and enjoy the great outdoors.
Security: For many travellers, dogs offer a sense of security and peace of mind. Some owners have told us before that the best motorhome alarm or theft deterrent is a dog, particularly when camping in remote locations.
Exercise: Touring holidays often involve plenty of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to fishing and playing fetch. Taking your dog along means you both get plenty of exercise and fresh air, keeping you both happy and healthy!
But some people might choose not to travel with their furry friends because of the planning involved and possibly space in their leisure vehicle or tow car. Some dogs might not also be well-suited for life on the road and could get stressed or sick when travelling.
Although there are lots of dog-friendly campsites, travelling with a dog can sometimes mean making sacrifices and restricting your freedom and flexibility while on the road.
Vote in our new poll and let us know if you travel with a dog or dogs on your touring holidays. And in the comments box, we’d love to hear from you about why you do or don’t take a dog on your caravan, campervan or motorhome trips.
We’ll report back the results in March.
our jack Russell terries (Meg) loves the motorhome trips
and knows when we are preparing the van,
she is friendly to everyone and I might consider
leaving “her indoors” at home but not this man’s best friend
When my daughter and her partner go on holidays abroad I go off in my motorhome with Max a cocker spaniel. He loves woods so that is always on the itinerary.
I’m lucky enough to never be without Otto so why would I leave him at a sitters. It’s his holiday as much as ours and he enjoys the scenery.
Our dogs have more stamps on their passports than most people ..lol
Always with our dogs, they are family members as well!
Always with our dogs, they are family members as well !
They are family
We always take our dog with us as it is as much a holiday for him as well as us. It also gives him new places to explore.
I wish other people liked dogs or say NOT DOG FRIENDLY ON THE SITE IN ADVANCE!
Dog is my companion and security as I travel alone, would not do it without my dog.
