We recently asked our community if they take their motorhome or campervan across the Channel — and the response was huge.
Out of 633 votes a massive 86% said yes they already tour Europe and a further 10% said they were considering it. Just four percent said no!
Clearly, Europe is a big part of the motorhoming lifestyle. And judging by the comments, many of you have had many unforgettable adventures.
Your European motorhome stories
For Piers Brereton, 30 years of European travel has meant “restorative bathing in Thermopolae hot springs, riding out an Arctic Ocean storm at Sletnes Fyr, wintering in Spain and Portugal, exploring vineyards, mountain tunnels and island ferries — and more to come!”
Ian Brand recommended Rome as a must-do: staying at Hu Camping with a shuttle into the city, plus stopping at the Cascate del Mulino hot springs on the way down — natural thermal waterfalls and pools at a perfect 37°C.
Others shared favourite spots closer to home. Mike Thompson said it’s “hard to beat Northern France – Brittany, Normandy and the Loire area. Not too hot, lovely food and wine and easily accessible from the UK.”
Joe suggested Vulettes sur Mer, just over an hour from Dieppe, with a municipal campsite near the beach.
Wine lovers like Ken Octon highlighted themed trips through French wine regions, from Beaujolais villages to Loire Valley fizz. And for Graham Turford, Northern Portugal stood out, while Sean Naden praised the beauty of Italy’s Cinque Terre.
Your stories prove that whether it’s iconic cities, hidden gems, or simply a glass of something special, Europe has something for every motorhomer.
