COMPETITION NOW CLOSED – Thanks to everyone who entered.
Solar power for your caravan, motorhome or campervan can not only help trickle charge batteries when not in use (and stored outdoors) but it can also open up lots more opportunities to try a bit of wild camping!
Our recent gear guide on caravan and motorhome solar panels looks at the benefits of solar power and we take a look at four star players, including the NDS 110W SolarFLEX and NDS 120W Aero solar panels. We’ve teamed up with specialist solar panel distributors and fitters, RoadPro, to give away one of these solar panels to a lucky caravan, campervan or motorhome owner – an incredible prize worth hundreds of pounds!
The NDS Aero solar panel is made with high quality mono-crystalline cells for maximum efficiency and reliability. The panels are securely mounted on to an aluminium frame, and are suitable for both caravans and coachbuilt motorhomes. The 110W panel is worth £269.50.
The SolarFLEX solar panel is particularly popular with campervan owners who have vehicles with elevating roofs. Their flexibility means they can be installed in places where rigid panels simply can’t go – plus they’re lightweight, which makes them ideal if you’re having weight issues! The SolarFLEX panels is worth £339.
As well as their chosen solar panel, the winner will also receive a solar regulator, which is essential for correct operation, and a cable entry box to put the cable safely through the roof. RoadPro will also install the solar panel half the usual price at their premises in Daventry.

Its not free if you have to travel to daventry from the noth of england to get it fitted
Are these panels that will only operate in strong sunlight or one of the newer more efficient systems that will provide power even on a dull day? Plus do they have to point directly at the sun requiring the panel to be relocated as the sun moves or is this no longer a restriction?
All solar panels work best when the sun is shining in a clear sky and is at 90 degrees to the panel Phil. These are the ideal conditions.
CIGS panels do work better than silcon panels in less than ideal conditions, such as when the sky is overcast and / or the sun is low in the sky. Even so, performance is greatly reduced compared to when the panel is working in ideal conditions. CIGS panels are also much less affected by shadowing such as when a tree’s branch is creating a shadow across part of the panel.
Just what I need.
Sounds like a win win situation.
only draw back would be the distance for me to travel, but combined with a holiday it would be a winner
This ad is very misleading, are we winning a solar panel which will be fitted for half the normal price (i.e.the panel is free and the unit will be fitted for half the normal fitting price) or is the whole deal for half price, i.e.this is not free but a 50% off the total cost of panel plus fitting? if the latter then the offer is expensive because unless you live in or near Daventry then it would be cheaper to buy one and have it fitted locally (certainly for me living in Devon)
The giveaway is to win a solar panel. RoadPro will then fit the panel for half the cost of a normal fitting. So the panel is free.
I would have liked to know about adding panels to existing panels too and what their output is capable of keeping running in average British weather.
Hi Johnny, adding solar panels to existing ones can be done but it’s not a simple process. You’d need to check there’s space on your roof and we’d speak to an expert first.
Very good
