The twin-axle Swift Conqueror 650 is new for 2016 and has wide range of safety and security systems which qualify for insurance savings including TRACKER Retrieve, Passive infra-red alarm system with tilt sensor, and AL-KO ATC trailer control system. It also has an AL-KO AKS 3004 stabiliser.
The standard interior furnishing scheme in “Loretta” features cream and brown, with highlights in the scatter cushions, which harmonise with the traditional Aralie Sen lustrous upper locker doors with their smoked oak inlays.
There is an alternative interior colourway, “Zimba” which has a lighter appearance than Loretta but is just as luxurious.
The layout is a rear wall mounted island bed, with padded headboard and cupboards over, and wardrobes and drawers at each side of the bed. An elegant design touch is the pleated window blinds and discrete plinth lighting.
The luxurious-looking transverse shower room is accessed by sliding doors at each side of the bedroom and features a shower over the wheel arch, a centrally positioned oval basin, with a cupboard below and a large mirror above it with LED backlights. Heating includes an Alde heating system radiator.
The central off-side kitchen now features scratch resistant worktops, a classy, underslung, round stainless steel sink, a tall slim-line fridge with generous 137L capacity, Thetford Aspire dual fuel cooker with grill and oven, as well as a microwave oven and an Omnivent three-speed fan. The upper lockers are a suave linen-look finish.
The living area lacks nothing for elegant living with a panoramic roof light, increased space, creating longer front sofas which have bolster cushions that become headboards, and seat and back rest ventilation boards, which give improved heating performance.
Technology features highly in this caravan, with the new and exclusive Swift Command control system. This intelligent control system has an LCD control panel with functions for battery selection, battery state metre, lighting and water pump circuit controls and a range of other sensors and features. Add in the Swift Command App and you can remotely control and monitor the caravan’s functions via Bluetooth and GRPS data connection; you’ll need signal or Wi-Fi to do this.
Externally, there are fixing bars on the rear panel to take the optional Thule rear mounted rack for two cycles, a BBQ point, 230v mains socket and 80w roof mounted solar panel and new LED light clusters.
Verdict: The leading edge design, layout, use of hi-tech equipment control systems and extravagant comfort level, befit its hefty price tag and it certainly is a caravan for all-weather in all seasons. One could say that the addition of optional air-con might be important for those who want to enhance the specification and perhaps enjoy greater comfort in hot weather. You’d be wise to add the dealer fit optional AL-KO secure wheel locks as they may well influence the insurance cost of this high value caravan.

I first saw this caravan at the caravan and motor home show at the nec back in the later part of 2015, I fell in love with it straight away. Although there are a few more years left in my currant van this swift model will be my next purchase. I love the central island bed at the back along with the bathroom in the middle of the van, but most of all it has proper doors! no flappy concertina doors. one fault i did find, which i hope by the time i get to upgrade, swift may have resolved it. The front high level window is very poorly finished off, you can see the roof insulation and can quite easily insert in hand into the roof space. this means that all kinds of flys and bugs can also get up in there too. This could so easily be solved with a rubber seal. Please swift sort this out before i purchase my next van
I for one am glad that the permanent fixed bed is an option. It saves us having to maul about with slats, making up the bed of a night and putting it away in the morning. It’s a good thing that there are so many layouts. It proves that one size does not fit all. I’m sticking with my fixed bed.
I have recently bought a Swift Caravan with a front lounge area and rear four seater dining area that converts into a double bed. What I can,t understand is why when this floor plan has so much versatility manufacturers continue with fixed beds instead of fold up or collapsable beds. Please think of available floor space during the day or early evening when one could be relaxing or entertaining!
Flexibility has to be a must.
