Barbie would approve of this latest Go-Pod Pioneer micro tourer caravan! In truth, other colours are available – you can literally take your pick, along with alloy wheels, customised decals and choice of four worktop finishes as part of the £2,350 Venus Package.
In the pink
That finish is from the RAL colour book (this is RAL 3015, Light Pink, for example), but you can have your Go-Pod in virtually any colour you want, including black.
And OK, the Pink variant might not emerge the top-seller, but it certainly catches the eye. Go-Pods also offers quite a range of furniture and upholstery finishes. That distinctively shaped GRP body originates from Portugal, but it’s all kitted out over here in England.
In this video, Chris from Go-Pods talks us through the key new features of the 2024 Go-Pod Pioneer micro-tourer caravan.
There’s a separate front locker, for gas cylinders, and the entrance door to the Go-Pod Pioneer micro tourer caravan is at the back.
At 60cm, it’s a bit wider than the norm, opening to reveal a floorplan featuring a U-shaped lounge area at the front, with seating around a single pedestal leg table and kitchen along the rear nearside.
At night, you can have two single beds or, with a bit more adaptation, a king-sized double.
Kitchen facilities are confined to a two-gas-ring hob combined with a sink, all in stainless steel (a microwave oven is an option), while water is supplied via a container with a drop-in pump. There’s a handy flip-up worktop extension. Storage includes lockers in the kitchen unit, plus two high-level lockers.
Across from the kitchen, there’s more worktop, with a Dometic compressor fridge set on a floor-level locker. There’s another high locker here too and a nifty slide-out pantry drawer for bottles and tins.
More storage comes in the form of a shelved locker-cum-wardrobe just inside the entrance door (its shape follows the curve of the back of the caravan) which is set over a dedicated locker for a portable toilet.
Of course, it’s all very cosy inside the Go-Pod Pioneer micro tourer, but it’s actually a great use of space within the confines of an internal body length of just over 2m.
What helps is a small section of elevating roof, which takes the total height up to 2.35m and gives an internal standing height of 1.83m. It also has canvas sides along with zipped mesh panels for useful high-level ventilation.
Another key attraction of the Go-Pod Pioneer is its low weight – just 750kg, maximum, and that includes a payload that’s rather more generous than many a mainstream, full-size tourer.
Then there are the overall dimensions, making it considerably easier to manhandle, when needed, and stow when not in use – and that includes putting it inside a normal sized garage.
Go-Pod Pioneer prices start at £19,995, and there are quite a few enticing optional extra offers. As standard, though, it comes with a 85Ah leisure battery, warm white LED lighting including ambient strips over the windows and in the footwell, ceiling spotlights and two reading lamps, net storage pockets in the lounge, Sargent control panel and battery charger, etc.
There are some interesting viewing options, too – online, or at Go-Pods’ head office – Red Lion Caravan Centre near Southport, Lancashire – or you could get a taste of what’s in store by visiting any number of designated owners/ ambassadors throughout the UK.
