Could you live with a caravan layout like this? You’ll certainly find the build quality more than acceptable. Just as attractive, prices comes in at just over £20,000. That’s before you add any factory-fitted options, of course. And it’s fair to say some of these you will consider essential.
Let’s take a look inside the 2025 Weinsberg CaraOne 390QD caravan:
CaraOne is actually the name of the first caravan produced by German manufacturer Weinsberg – that was back in 2010, although the company had been making motorhomes from 1969, and other automotive vehicles from as far back as 1912 (it was even owned by Fiat for a while). Some 11 models carry the CaraOne name these days, while the Weinsberg company is now part of another big leisure vehicle manufacturer, Knaus Tabbert.
One of the biggest challenges for an import like this is taking a caravan layout that’s very popular throughout Europe but is pretty much an unknown here in the UK. It certainly shouldn’t be dismissed, especially if you want a particularly compact, light yet highly usable four-berth caravan.
Also, 2025 season sees Weinsberg tackling the UK market head-on with a full, British version of its popular 390 QD. That starts with a floorplan that’s fully switched for UK use, putting the main door on our nearside. The entrance itself is that bit wider than the norm at 60cm, coming complete with a full flyscreen. Elsewhere, the kind of fittings favoured by Brits are in evidence – everything from floor carpeting to a combined oven and grill to external mains socket – all come as standard.
Daytime mode for the Weinsberg Caraone 390 QD sees a dinette with side-fixing table in the offside corner, toilet room opposite, kitchen mid’-van along the nearside and – across the front – a permanent double bed measuring some 1.96m x 1.40m tapering to 1.28m.
Those are generous dimensions for the notably comfortable, premium quality Evopore HRC mattress, especially when you consider Weinsberg’s designers have only just over 4m of internal length to play with.
Despite being 6ft-plus in length (both are 1.87m) the rear beds are arguably more suited to children – there’s an upper level bunk that’s 0.88m wide, while the lower single is made from the dinette seating and is 1.17m wide.
The kitchen has a three-burner hob and a separate circular sink. There’s a 98-litre fridge under the hob, while directly under the sink is a cutlery drawer, with a Thetford Duplex combined oven and grill beneath that.
The CaraOne 390 QD caravan washroom has a Dometic swivel-bowl toilet and a fixed corner basin with a tap extension so that it can fix to a clip for use as a shower.
There’s a window here, and a curtain pulls around for showering, while the shower tray has just the one plughole. Storage includes a locker with shelf above it, plus a second locker under the basin.
Other washroom fittings include a toilet roll holder, a pull-down rail for hanging wet clothing, a second locker under the basin and a couple of hooks.
There’s sufficient space in the 390’s interior for a relatively generous wardrobe, set over a Truma heater – but it’s gas-only as standard. If you want it to work from mains electricity, too, the Ultraheat option will set you back a further £396. Note also the Truma Therme hot water system is mains only.
The CaraOne’s bodywork comes with a 10-year water integrity warranty and it’s on an Al-Ko chassis that’s all set for our UK roads, with shock absorbers as standard.
Look out, also, for the limited edition “Hot Pepper” version of this caravan – with added features including alternative graphics, drawbar cover, “vegan-friendly leather” upholstery, additional ambient lighting and more.
