quoteWhen pegging out your motorhome or caravan awning it’s worth having a variety of pegs to make sure you get a secure fix to the ground.
Many awnings will come with a standard set of pegs which are fine for soft grassy camping ground. But when pitching your awning on stony ground or a hand-standing pitch then you’re going to need a selection of pegs to secure your awning down, and to avoid a nasty trip or accident from pegs sticking out too high from the ground.
Last month we asked caravanners if they used different awning pegs depending on their pitch.
The awning pegs results
More than 160 caravanners voted in our community poll and the majority – almost 80 percent – said they did use different awning pegs depending on the type of ground they were pitching on.
Just over a fifth, (21 percent) said they used the same awning pegs, regardless of the pitch type.

Mike Holt told us that he’d seen an awning uprooted in strong winds because the owner had used steel pegs on grass and they’d been pullled out by the wind.
“Those using plastic grass pegs held firm,” he said.

I have screw in pegs but have never successfully used them. On hardstanding I always seem to hit an obstacle and then they wobble all over the place causing a hole. They are ok in soft ground but I use plastic pegs for that
Metal screw in pegs sounds brilliant. Please share the details of these pegs with all of us.
I only use metal screw in pegs, what could be easier than a cordless driver appropriate socket and any ground you like. Driving them in or out is simplicity itself and it is secure nuff said.
