Caravan Guard looks at the motorhome highlights from the 2019 Show

As well as exhibiting at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at Birmingham’s NEC we explored the halls to bring you some of our campervan and motorhome highlights.

New arrivals from Wellhouse

Wellhouse were exhibiting a range of new campervans at the NEC, including their Hyundai i-camper, which has had a facelift for 2019 and is available with either an elevating roof or a high-top.

But it was the new Martello, built on a Citroën long wheelbase, which attracted the crowds. Described as the sister vehicle to their Toyota Proace-based Matino, it’s around 35cm longer for that extra living and costs less than £40,000.

The new Grand California

Another crowd pleaser was the hotly anticipated launch of the Volkswagen Grand California – based on the Crafter.

At six metres long they’ve packed a lot of style and kit into this iconic camper. It comes complete with fixed double bed at the back, separate bathroom, some neat storage space and pull-out bed over the cab.

Rolling Homes Edition 10

Our senses were ignited by the one-off, Edition 10, VW campervan from Rolling Homes to mark their 10th anniversary.

Cocktails and a fridge full of champagne did not look out of place alongside the stunning walnut interior and bespoke Nappa leather upholstery.

Outside, nobody could walk on by without been wowed by the eye-catching ruby red paintwork. It’s probably the most expensive conversion at around the £110,000 mark but this ultimate camper is unlikely to be up for sale.

Kabe Travel Master

Swedish motorhome manufacturer Kabe made a statement on the Coachman Caravan stand with their stunning Travel Master x780 LGB motorhome.

This four berth has Alde heating, quality fittings and comes on a Fiat Ducato base vehicle.

Bailey’s two new layouts

Bailey launched two new 59-2 layouts for their Advance and Alliance motorhomes. The Advance range now has nine unique layouts and the new 59-2 features large twin parallel front seats and an end-washroom.

It’s the same layout for the new sub-six metre Alliance 59-2, plus plenty of equipment, including a Fiamma F45S awning, a Truma 100 Watt solar panel and a Status television aerial.

Swift’s Kon-tiki goes Dynamic

On the Brownhills stand, Swift displayed their most powerful motorhome – the Swift Kon-tiki Dynamic. An evolution of its flagship Kon-tiki range, the new model is designed for motorsport and other high-octane or off-grid activities.
