Always a head-turner, Adria’s 2022 version of its Alpina Colorado is even more futuristic than ever.
Stepping into the future, today
A 2.46m wide twin-axle, the 2022 Adria Alpina Colorado instantly stands out from the white box caravan crowds, thanks not just to its particularly aerodynamic lines and silver finish, but details such as LED strip lighting all along its awning rail, a particularly distinctive rear panel, aerodynamic corner edges with integrated grab handles, electric step, and a whole lot more – not least the large front locker that takes not just two gas cylinders but also the spare wheel and some removable plastic storage crates (you’ll just have to watch your weight here).
Adria uses a technique it calls Plasmatreat in its build process. It says it involves cleaning with an electric beam when applying adhesives on windows and doors, for a complete bond. There’s certainly a well-made feel to the whole of the Alpina Colorado.
Inside, it’s all a bit different too and not just its looks. It starts with a branded floor mat and a smart little table lamp just inside the door. This is rechargeable and free-standing, so you can use it anywhere – inside the ‘van, or out.
The layout covers a U-shaped lounge, a most generous kitchen area, fixed single beds, and, across the back, a full washroom. Rivals might have versions of the floorplan in their portfolios, but few dare to take it this far upmarket.
That front lounge comes with corner headrests that are adjustable for height and angle (they’re also removable), as well as a flip-up ledge that can act as a coffee table.
The corners are just the right two places for watching the Flatscreen TV just inside the entrance, while the padded lower sections of the settees add to the feeling of comfort.
There’s also the Media Controller – a brushed metal box that uses a Bluetooth amplifier and allows you to stream music and more from other devices. Plus, the Adria Mach feature that allows you to operated heating, lighting and more via your phone or other device.
Despite the Adria Alpina Colorado’s billing as a four-berth caravan – the front seating can be turned into a transverse double bed – its main appeal will be to couples with a penchant for a more modern way of touring (as well as owning a pretty hefty towcar), whatever the time of the year. Alde’s central heating extends to underfloor heating, and overall insulation from floor level, are a cut above the norm.
The kitchen is certainly set up to cater for more than just two. It has a particularly space-efficient combination of three gas rings and a sink that allows Adria to offer far more permanent worktop than most.
With the worktop extension up, there’s a massive area for any chef (or two?) to work in.
There’s also a separate oven and grill, plus microwave, and wooden chopping board!
Storage in the Alpina Colorado is particularly good, too, with large drawers and upper-level lockers, plus a slimline 143-litre fridge.
Beyond the kitchen, a sliding door provides privacy for the bedroom. Note the singles are slightly different sizes, although both have backrest adjustment, padded headboards and touch-sensitive light controls easy to hand. There are hanging wardrobes at the foot of each bed and cashmere blankets!
The washroom continues the style-exuding theme, and is certainly not short on practicality, from its large oval basin to mirror-doored back-lit vanity unit, to a separate shower cubicle with its showerhead on a riser bar.
There’s a window beyond the swivel-bowl toilet.
Elsewhere, details include everything from rails with hooks and movable storage (kitchen and washroom) to the concave curve to upper-level lockers.
If anyone argues caravans lack style, just point them towards an Adria Alpina.
Let’s take a look around this stylish Adria Alpina Colorado caravan.
Verdict: A slice of style for a grand tourer
Plus: General build quality, contemporary styling
Minus: Heavy, a few washroom details
In-a-nutshell: Extra wide and extra handsome

Very good looking caravan inside and out. I also like these fixed beds rather than the cut off corner or rounded end style that has to be pulled out to make them near full length. One thing that really puts me off is the entrance door. Why open this way into the slipstream……… This has happened to us many years ago on a motorway and the caravan was a write off. I seriously believe that doors should not open like this unless they are fitted to the offside of the caravan…… Motorhomes and camper vans do not have any doors opening this way so why should caravans??
