Best in bed
It’s aimed primarily at couples, of course. But it can sleep four when needed. The 675 tops the five-strong, standard width VIP range, where Coachman offers single and twin axle variants of the transverse island double bed, full-width end washroom formula in its VIP line-up.
It might be a traditional three-windowed front – plus a full-width sunroof – but there’s a modern enough look to the exterior of the 2024 Coachman VIP 675 caravan, thanks to fittings such as the quality decals, alloy wheels, main door with fixed window and waste bin.
It’s a relatively short front lounge, although those sprung-cushioned settees (with three different styles of scatter cushion) can give (children’s?) single beds 1.50m x 0.73m, or an adult-sixed 2.07m x 1.39m double.
The star bed, of course, is the permanent 1.87m x 1.37m island double towards the back. It retracts for easier access to the washroom beyond and is flanked by his and hers wardrobes with bedside ledges, and a trio of lockers over the padded headboard section. A dresser unit at the foot end also serves as somewhere to put a TV.
Beyond, the Coachman VIP 675’s washroom has a sliding door. A Thetford swivel-bowl toilet is the first thing you’ll encounter. A frosted window is here, over which is a double-doored locker.
A central unit houses a countertop hand basin, under which is another double-doored locker. There’s also a large mirrored area.
The shower cubicle is in the far corner. It has a single door, some moulded shelving, a showerhead on a riser bar, full plastic lining, but just the one plughole.
Kitchen facilities include a Thetford N4145 fridge/freezer with a total 159-litre capacity.
And that sink is in stainless steel with an inset fitting so that its loose-fit cover sits flush with the rest of the worktop. There’s also a worktop extension on the left-hand side.
The cooker is, of course, a full-facilities model, with cast-iron grid to its dual-fuel hob, plus separate oven and grill. Directly above it is a microwave oven – not everybody’s favoured location for such a fitting – while an electric Omnivent overhead should dispel any unwanted cooking smells.
Storage – larger than average drawers and lockers, plus slide-out racking – is excellent.
There’s more slide-out metal racking across the corridor in the unit just inside the door, where you’ll also find the storage slot for the free-stranding table. All the gear is also here for setting up your TV.
It’s worth highlighting what’s new across the whole Coachman VIP line-up for 2024. There are enhanced looks to all the locker doors as well as the soft furnishings, plus improved splashbacks in the kitchen and washroom, while details include the double USB (with C-port) in the TV station area as well as a switch to TV aerials from Teleco that can act as DAB/FM radio receivers.
As ever, payload isn’t the most generous for the Coachman VIP 675 caravan. However, depending on your towcar there is the option to upgrade the 675’s MTPLM by some 214kg to 2,000kg.
It’s not cheap, either. Coachmans never are. As the adage has it: you get what you pay for!

Verdict: Quality tourer that leans towards luxury

Minus: Somewhat dated Pioneer stereo as standard, just the one shower drainage point

I purchased a 675 in February 2024, really happy, especially as upgraded MTPL massive payload now.
We’ve been looking at various models in the Coachman range to replace our old Bailey Olympus. A very interesting little review this which, I think, confirms our original intention to purchase the VIP 575 later on this year.
This seems very similar to the more expensive Lusso 2
Big van essentially for two. Why do they put the microwave over the cooker? Too high for my small wife, and this dangerous. Do they not expect people to really cook in their vans.
