It’s a welcome back for Buccaneer – a badge last seen on a motorhome back in the late 1990s. Fast forward to the 2026 season and Buccaneer is part of the Erwin Hymer Group UK portfolio.

Produced alongside equivalent Elddis coachbuilts in the Elddis factory in Consett, County Durham, there are two initial Buccaneer Quantum motorhome models. The F-4F here has the same £96,195 starting price as its sister, the twin single beds/end washroom F-4S.
In this video, we take a quick walkthrough of the Buccaneer Quantum F-4F motorhome:
Quantums (Quanta?) are equipped to impress, with the likes of Alde central heating, air conditioning, Avtex TV and on-board Wi-Fi as standard. There’s also a Lux Edition option to consider, which extends to Fiat’s 180bhp engine, Safety Pack plus tyre pressure monitoring system and spare wheel. As standard, it’s the 140bhp engine with automatic transmission.

Resplendent in its standard all-silver exterior, with alloy wheels and other details picked out in black, the only anomaly is the windows to the coachbuilt body aren’t flush-fitting, which would be in keeping with its upmarket aspirations.

The Buccaneer Quantum’s bodywork adopts the new Zip system that’s being used for all Elddis/Buccaneer coachbuilt motorhomes. It features fully bonded polypropylene sides to a sealed metallic framework, with interior walls from Renolit Cork-Stock, a water-resistant compressed cork-polymer composite.

There’s a 10-year bodywork integrity warranty as well as three years cover for the rest of the manufacturing.

Also worth noting is there are fixings for a bike rack, which will sit conveniently low for loading/unloading, a 100W solar panel, awning, and an almost full-width sunroof in the overcab pod. Plus, the one-piece habitation door, which opens to an inset step, includes a window, full flyscreen and waste bin.

The 3,650kg maximum weight of the Buccaneer Quantum F-4F motorhome means you’ll need C1 status on your driving licence. And a starting weight (Mass in Running Order) of 3,221kg means you’re restricted to 50mph and 60mph on single and dual carriageways respectively, although you can still hit the maximum speed on UK motorways.

Cab luxuries extend to a Pioneer infotainment system with 10in touchscreen, also automatic air-conditioning, automatic lights and wipers.

The rest of the Buccaneer Quantum F-4F floorplan sees a forward lounge with inward-facing settees at the front, kitchen mid-‘van and a permanent French double bed – maximum dimensions 1.93m x 1.25m – alongside a washroom at the back.

This bed has reading lights, upper lockers to two sides, a side window and an opening rooflight. The padded headboard helps when you want to sit up in bed (for reading or watching TV).

For two more passengers, there are fold-out Aguti seats (with Isofix) in each settee base. The settees also convert to a double bed, some 2.08m x 1.28m

The kitchen is L-shaped on the offside in between the axles. The circular sink is in the section that extends into the corridor area, whilst at the other end of the unit is a full Thetford cooker with dual-fuel hob as well as separate oven and grill.

Plus there’s a Russell Hobbs rotating plate microwave oven directly over the hob.

Storage includes three drawers and a floor locker, a second floor locker under the oven, and two high-level lockers, one home to racking for plates and mugs.

There’s also a decent amount of permanent worktop between the sink and hob, with a couple of mains sockets nearby.
Across the corridor itself is a 177-litre Dometic fridge/freezer, with dual hinging to its doors.

The Buccaneer Quantum F-4F’s washroom is, of course, so easy to access from the bed.
There’s a shower cubicle at the back (commendably, with twin plugholes), with an Ecocamel Orbit showerhead on a riser bar.

Also here is a countertop handbasin and swivel-bowl toilet, while details include a couple of hooks, a drop-down rail for hanging clothing and upper and lower-level lockers, but there’s no room for a radiator (just a heating outlet) or a window.

French bed motorhome floorplans aren’t the most fashionable these days. Nevertheless, there’s still some competition in this sector – starting with stablemate Elddis’s Avalon and Whirlwind GT equivalents. These share a lot in terms of construction, with lesser specifications, that meaning lower prices.
