quoteCheck out the new names for caravans carrying the Buccaneer name for the 2026 season. For the Barracuda, for example, you can have it in Skyliner or Starliner trim levels, the latter (reviewed below) representing the ultimate in terms of specification. And price.
The layout remains the same as previous Barracuda caravans – a blend of L-shaped front settee, rear bedroom with island double, central kitchen and washroom – and, thanks to its extra-wide 8ft body and twin axle chassis, space everywhere.
Here we take a look around the all-new Buccaneer Starliner Barracuda caravan:
It will sleep four, of course, with the lounge converting into a 1.96m x 1.38m double. The island double at the back maybe a tad smaller in its mattress dimensions (it’s 1.90m x 1.36m, maximum) but it’s the whole bedroom here where the comfort lies – complete with generous wardrobes and drawers storage plus short ledges either side of the bed.
There are also two lockers overhead leaving plenty of space to sit upright against the full padded headboard.
There’s also a small, corner dresser unit with a mirror at the foot of the bed. The lower locker here also housing mains and two USB sockets.
And en-suite facilities in terms of a separate shower cubicle on the nearside and toilet room offside. Doors mean you can also make these into a full-width washroom with sufficient floorspace for dressing etc.
The shower is plastic-lined and has an Ecocamel Orbit showerhead on a riser bar.
The toilet room has a swivel-bowl loo and a countertop basin, plus a radiator/towel rail. Storage includes open shelving as well as upper- and lower-level lockers.
Forward of the en-suites, the kitchen is L-shaped, enhancing its worktop space, as well as storage below.
As you’d expect, you get everything from a full Thetford cooker (and a separate microwave oven) to a larger Dometic fridge/freezer. Even the sink is that bit bigger than the norm.
And storage that includes slide-out chrome racking adds an extra layer of practicality.
There’s still a dark wood theme for much of the furniture, but latest Buccaneer caravans also get a lift to their interior thanks to lighter coloured upholstery and locker doors.
The main TV precludes the fitting of an offside side window, not that you’d notice – fittings like the long Heki Lux Stargazer opening rooflight make sure you get plenty of daylight. There’s almost limitless interior lighting, too – ambient, reading lamps etc.
As a Starliner, it also gets a bedroom TV – that’s in addition to the massive flatscreen in the lounge that’s long been a Barracuda favourite.
Also, air conditioning (previously a £1,836 extra) to keep you cool in the summer months or on the continent.
Plus, the island bed benefits from a Dream+ mattress upgrade.
As well as the size, weight and overall comfort levels, there’s a starting specification that already includes a hydraulic, remote-controlled self-levelling system and Alde central heating that extends to warming the flooring throughout, plus mobile internet and wi-fi.
Alde also provides a load monitor so you won’t trip out the campsite’s mains electricity supply.
Leather upholstery for the lounge remains one of the few options in this new Buccaneer Starliner Barracuda caravan.
It’s high on safety and security, too – the Thatcham Cat 7 tracking system, Al-Ko Diamond Secure wheel locks, PIR alarm and more, are arguably essential fittings which will attract caravan insurance discounts with Caravan Guard.
Ironically, with its 2,200kg chassis as standard, it boasts a high payload – but it’s hard to imagine what extra equipment you’ll want on-board. A satellite TV receiver, perhaps?
Finally, and critically, it has just the one direct competitor in terms of its floorplan.
