The North East is one of the most beautiful places in the country. You will find a very warm welcome from everyone and there are fantastic historical places to visit along with a clean coastline with sandy beaches. Durham City is fantastic but is slowly loosing character by the council’s idea of replacing large area of old with new and disgusting new built shopping precincts in the old centre..

  2. Christine Bell says:

Living locally and working in Durham I have to agree Durham is one of the most impressive cities in the country. The Cathedral and Castle themselves are worth the visit. The city centre is only 5 minutes off junction 62 on the A1M – beside which there is a Caravan Club site (again only a 5 minute walk from the Belmont Park & Ride site). There is also a small Caravan Club CS at Baxter Wood on the western side of Durham (only 2 minutes off the A167 near Nevilles Cross). For anyone who just ‘passes by’ on their way north or south they are missing a really beautiful city!
