The Lunar Quasar 564 caravan is new to the model range for 2014 and does have a slightly unusual layout which may appeal to couples or to a family with two children.
Essentially, it has an end washroom and a kitchen on the offside, but what makes it a little bit different is that there is two flexible living or sleeping areas. The front end has a parallel seating area with a centre chest of drawers but this can make up into a double bed measuring 6ft7ins x 5ft, or can be used as two single beds each measuring 5ft x 2ft 3ins, so that’s ideal for young children.
However, there is a rear area, rather like a U shape which can be used either as a seating or dining area or can make up to a double bed measuring 6ft3ins x 4ft5ins. So if you a couple buying this caravan you could ring the changes vis-à-vis sleeping arrangements, perhaps dependent upon the view from your pitch.
The soft furnishing scheme is grey with magenta used as accent colour as tiebacks for the curtains and in the scatter cushions. It was a grey day when this caravan was seen by us but even so, it didn’t seem to darken the caravan in anyway.
The kitchen has a dual fuel hob, with a black lid, a oven and grill, granite look work tops, contrasting cream locker doors and cream and chrome taps. Opposite the kitchen is a handy space with a microwave, storage space and TV and mains power socket.
We wouldn’t describe the shower room as compact as it does have a large square shower tray accessed by a single clear acrylic door, hinged on the left.
As a move towards energy saving the interior lighting is 100% LED, and this can save a lot of battery power.
Heating and water is by the 4kwTruma Combi-boiler
The caravan is built on an AL-KO chassis and does have an AL-KO receiver and AL-KO AKS stabiliser as standard. External graphics and colours are subtle but there is a new curved front panel.
Verdict
if you like a layout that isn’t run-of-the-mill then this may well appeal to you. If you were prepared to add optional security features like the AL-KO Secure wheel lock, and Al-KO ATC trailer control you’ll find that insurance companies will reduce your premium.

I stay in the G67 area. Is there a Lunar agent in the area that may have the 564 available to see. We like the layout of the caravan and i assume that it could be at the Scottish caravan exhibition in 2014.
