Elddis breezes into 2026 with the resurrection of a name from its illustrious past. Whirlwind GTV is a mini line-up of three different length van conversions – each available in standard high-top plus optional elevating roof variants, with the 563 here the range-topper. It’s the only one based on the extra-long version of Peugeot’s Boxer. They supplement the nine-strong Whirlwind GT motorhome range that’s also new for 2026.
In this video we take a walkthrough of the all-new 2026 Elddis Whirlwind GTV 563 campervan:
As standard with the GTV 563 here, there’s the 140bhp engine, with six-speed manual transmission. Auto is the only base vehicle option available, and, while the 140bhp engine is adequate enough in terms of economy and performance, there will be those who hanker for a bit more power.
These Whirlwind GTV campervans cut a dashing look in their Metallic Grey paintwork and accompanying graphics. The 16in black alloy wheels are standard, as is the Thule wind-out awning.
Using the 6.36m long Boxer base means Elddis can provide a floorplan that includes two lengthways permanent single beds (or double) at the back.
Interestingly, the sliding door is on the UK offside, which rather suggests the influence of others in the Erwin Hymer Group of which Elddis is a part.
The interior is kept feeling airy thanks to a light wood finish to the furniture complemented by an equally light colouring for the soft furnishings.
Stretching across that sliding door entranceway, the Whirlwind GTV 563’s kitchen boasts a combined two-ring gas hob and sink in stainless steel, along with a Thetford 420 gas oven and a 90-litre fridge, also from Thetford. It’s a compressor model with a six-litre freezer compartment.
A clever feature here is the night mode setting, which drops motor noise from 32dB(A) to 29dB(A). That might not sound much, but it can mean a lot within the confines of a motorhome. The fridge’s location, at the end of the kitchen, also makes it accessible from outdoors as well as in.
Washroom facilities are as you’d expect in a campervan of this ilk. There’s a swivel-bowl toilet, plus a shower and an inset corner basin with some handy work surface next to it.
It’s also good to see a window here, plus removable duckboarding underfoot. The shower uses the tap extended from the handbasin.
Up front of the Elddis Whirlwind GTV 563 campervan, there’s safe travel for up to four thanks to a forward-facing double bench seat with adjustable head restraints.
As a lounge/dining area on-site, you benefit from a swing-out extension to the side-fixing table. At night, it can also be converted to offer a third sleeping berth (1.85m x 0.7m).
The main sleeping is at the back. Sitting high over a large storage area is the bed, made up of two comfy mattresses to form a double or singles. The right mattress measures 1.92m x 1.08m and the left, slightly smaller at 1.84m long x 0.86m.
Elddis certainly has all the basics in place in the Whirlwind GTV 563 campervan. Heating and hot water is from Truma’s Combi 4 system. The fresh and waste water tanks are 100 litres and 90 litres respectively, and the gas locker can take up to two 11kg cylinders.
Factory-fitted options are kept to a minimum, leaving it all up to your supplying dealer for the likes of alarms and/or tracking systems, bike racks, on-board wi-fi etc. And pre-wiring is in place for a solar panel, TV and a rear-view camera to complement the Zenec infotainment system with 10in screen and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity.
It certainly doesn’t want for rivals – there are even more if you’re happy to keep the sleeping accommodation limit to two. This is a fiercely competitive sector of the campervan/van conversion market. Nevertheless, a keen eye on costs and what you get for your money might just work for Elddis here.
