2027 Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra caravan

As Coachman Caravan celebrates 40 years, the latest additions to its Acadia caravan range are a trio of Xtra variants, all with a full-width 2.44m body.

The 575 here features a very popular transverse island bed/end washroom floorplan.

At 7.39m, it’s the same overall length as the already well-established standard 575 Acadia. But, the Xtra’s wider body makes the whole unit seem more specious – even if the main bed is the same 1.87m x 1.37m mattress size. Admittedly, that was always pretty generous.

The 2027 Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra is built on a two-piece Al-Ko chassis with Euro axle, its semi-trailing arm – along with shock absorbers – offering enhanced on-the-road stability. Coachman-spotters will have noticed the new five-spoke alloy wheels and 3D graphics, also the latest main door complete with full flyscreen, waste bin, window with blind and moulded panel work.

With the extra body width offering an enhanced feeling of interior space, it’s nevertheless a traditional floorplan. Throughout though, you’ll notice lots of details picked out in black, very much in line with latest trends – including the kitchen’s mixer tap, locker and drawer handles, cooker knobs, oven and grill handles – complementing the latest marble-effect splashback and worktop (including extension and loose sink cover).

There’s also a new ‘Primavera’ wood colour for the locker doors and new soft furnishings with co-ordinating scatter cushions and sculptured armrests.

The Acadia 575 Xtra kitchen has an inset stainless steel circular sink with full Thetford cooker next to it, complemented by a flatbed microwave oven that’s set high over the 91-litre fridge across the corridor from the main kitchen unit.

The kitchen lockers and doors have had a makeover in a new Macademia and Jura design.

As well as the new lift-up worktop extension, there’s also some handy work surface above the fridge – and it’s the ideal location for a TV, with sockets already to hand and easy viewing for all those sat in the lounge – or indeed when you convert the front seating to beds. Here, the choice is singles (1.5m x 0.7m) or a 2.01m x 1.38m double.

There’s sliding door access to the full-width washroom beyond the island bed, where there’s plenty of space for a separate, plastic-lined square shower cubicle as well as a central unit with countertop handbasin. There’s also plenty of storage opportunities in here.

A swivel-bowl toilet is on the offside corner, with an opaque window nearby.

Again, details are picked out in black, including the heated towel rail, shower door and the basin’s tap.

Even though Acadia represents Coachman’s “starter” range (in terms of pricing), you won’t be disappointed by the equipment levels.

Central heating is Alde’s 3030 “wet” system, for example. It also gets a Scorpion S7-rated tracking system with the first year’s subscription included, which will attract a discount on your caravan insurance with Caravan Guard.

And there’s no shortage of homely details – ranging from the dimmable ambient under-locker lighting to Bluetooth speaker system, matt black reading lights with USB portals, dedicated TV stations and Teleco Teleplus TV aerial etc.

There’s a more than sneaking suspicion most buyers will go for the optional Lux Pack, which includes Al-Ko’s ATC, a gas barbecue point and an external 230V socket.
