A decade ago you would have been hard-pressed to find a new caravan that came fitted with the latest safety and security devices, but the same cannot be said of 2015. In fact just like we saw on 2014 caravan models most new models come installed with added security including electronic anti-snaking devices, axle wheel locks, alarms and even trackers.
Choosing a caravan with extra safety and security features, be it new or second hand, not only means peace of mind for you as a buyer, it could save you money on your insurance.

Safety and security insurance discounts
Many insurance specialists offer big savings for security and safety devices. If you’re a touring caravan owner and you insure with Caravan Guard you’ll receive a 5% discount if you have an electronic anti-snaking device fitted such as AL-KO ATC or BPW iDC; a 10% discount for axle wheel locks such as AL-KO Secure and a 5% discount for having a manufacturer’s alarm fitted. Approved tracking devices result in a huge 15% discount. Though unlikely to be a manufacturer fit, Tyron wheel safety bands also generate a 5% saving.
