It’s getting quite rare to see full overcab coachbuilt motorhomes these days, but that’s what’s on offer here from Auto-Trail, with this four-berth offering from its Expedition range – one of four models, all based on Fiat’s Ducato chassis-cab with 140bhp engine as standard.

Starting from just over £66,000, the C71 qualifies as budget-priced. But you’ll surely want to add a bit more from a comprehensive-yet-sensible list of optional extras that also includes engine, transmission and chassis weight upgrades.
Let’s take a tour of the 2026 Auto-Trail Expedition C71 motorhome…
It’s a typical Auto-Trail coachbuilt construction, with GRP sides, overcab pod and roof, complemented by ABS plastic skirts. Alloy wheels are standard. Note, too, Auto-Trail’s warranties for its conversion work and body integrity both extend to five years.

The Expedition C71 is a rear island bed motorhome model with an overall length of almost 7.30m.

The kitchen and washroom take up the mid-section, with a lounge up front based around swivelled cab seats, a forward-facing double travel bench and an inward-facing single seat.

There’s an impressively long run of kitchen on the offside, giving plenty of permanent workspace between the sink on the left and the cooker on the right.

The latter is a Thetford Triplex unit with three-ring hob (all gas) and a space-saving combined oven and grill.

An 85-litre fridge with removable freezer compartment sits under the sink, while kitchen storage includes a couple of drawers (one for cutlery), three lower lockers and three upper lockers. Also here is a full-height acrylic splash panel and a single mains socket.

Over on the nearside, the washroom has space for a separate, plastic-lined shower cubicle, which includes a fixed rail for hanging wet items to dry.

The shower itself has a single fixing point, rather than a riser bar. There’s the usual swivel-bowl cassette toilet and fixed handbasin and, as ever, it’s good to see a window for the main ventilation.

Access is via a solid door with a clothes hook and towel holder on its back. You also get a toilet roll holder.
As for the sleeping arrangements, the island bed is 1.86m x 1.34m and it comes with an adjustable backrest for when you want to sit up on the bed.
There are wardrobes either side at the head end (the one on the nearside is the wider of the two), accompanied by ledges at mattress level and open shelved areas below. There’s also access to the underbed storage area internally as well as via an external hatch on the nearside.

The overcab double is 1.89m x 1.18m, but one of the extra positives here is that there’s more headroom than you might expect.

A rooflight here also helps prevent any feeling of claustrophobia. And the main mattress section is hinged for when you want easy access from the cab to the rest of the living quarters.

For more flexibility, you can also make a double from the lounge seating. Just note there are just four travel seats with the C71, though.
Throughout the Auto-Trail Expedition C71 motorhome, there’s a generous enough starting specification, especially considering the starting price.
Heating and a continuous supply of hot water come from Truma’s CombiNeo system. There’s a 135-litre fresh water tank, and the waste is 85 litres. The gas locker can take up to two 6kg cylinders.

Among the details, the main windows have concertina blinds with flyscreens, the black reading lights on stalks come complete with USB outlets, plus there’s plenty of ambient lighting.
You even get an Auto-Trail branded umbrella!

And, with Auto-Trail offering hire purchase as well as PCP (personal contract purchase) schemes, it might just be within your financial reach.
