Here’s an interesting interpretation of an ever-popular transverse island bed floorplan from Bailey. The Bologna sits in a five-model Pegasus Black Edition line-up for 2026, with a layout that also includes a full-width washroom at the back and a C-shaped lounge at the front, plus all the surefootedness that comes with a twin axle tourer.

Also, all the luxury you’d expect in a unit whose price heads north of £33,000.

The Bailey Pegasus Black Bologna caravan also boasts an 8ft wide body, so you’ll really notice the extra living space this gives you throughout.

Finally, it’s called Black Edition because…well, it certainly boasts lots of fittings in that hue – from grab handles to hitch cover to alloy wheels on the outside, taps to locker catches and plenty more inside.

In this video, we take a walkthrough of the 2026 Bailey Pegasus Black Bologna caravan…
True, you’re going to need a pretty hefty towcar for a such a caravan. Having said that, it might just be the type of model you’re going to want to have pitched permanently on your favourite site. That’s despite such on-the-road safety features as Al-Ko’s ATC trailer control system, stabiliser, 14in alloy wheels and more.

The Bologna caravan has a typical Bailey front, including a central window that arches over the roofline, albeit there’s a more pronounced curve. And of course the bodywork is the company’s own Alu-Tech process, with GRP outer and inner walls to an interlocking aluminium framework, and an underside that’s skinned with polypropylene.

Bailey helpfully points out, in standard trim, the Bologna can be towed by vehicles like the Volvo XC60. However, if you want to up your payload margin to a more user-friendly 295kg, you’re going to need a heftier tug.

It’s on site where you’ll feel the extra space benefits of that 8ft-wide body. As mentioned, the front seating curves around all three sides in a C-shape, complemented by a free-standing footstool and a quartet of scatter cushions.
There’s a large side window on the offside, a smaller one nearside, where you’ll also find a flatscreen TV holder and relevant sockets.
It’s an L-shaped kitchen, which means both permanent worktop and storage space are enhanced.

There’s a full Thetford cooker to the right – a 650Watt flatbed microwave oven sits directly overhead here. Locker and drawer storage is plentiful, as is the total capacity of the fridge/freezer (at 137 litres) across the corridor.

It’s a short step from the Bailey Bologna’s kitchen to bedroom, although there is a divider should you want privacy.
That main double bed is a generous 1.90m x 1.53m at its maximum and is flanked by ledges with shelved lockers.

There’s just the one wardrobe – you often get two in this style of bedroom – which is angled and offers a full hanging height. Completing the bedroom is a dresser unit.

Head on past the bedroom and you get to the washroom, where there’s plenty of space for a separate, plastic-lined shower cubicle with Ecocamel showerhead in the nearside corner, a swivel-bowl toilet at the opposite end and a countertop handbasin between the two.

All the fittings are here – mirror, toilet roll holder, hooks, etc – the only surprise being the lack of a window.

Elsewhere inside the Bailey Pegasus Black Edition Bologna caravan, standard features include a 130Watt solar panel, wireless phone charger and a Sonos Bluetooth speaker.
Heating and hot water are from Truma’s trusty Combi 6E system. And the Tracker Retrieve CAT S7 tracking system, with an initial three-month subscription, will attract a caravan insurance discount with Caravan Guard.
The factory-fitted options list is kept to a bare minimum (there are alternative soft furnishings). Also, although pre-wiring is in place, the likes of on-board Wi-Fi etc will be at the behest of your supplying dealer. But, as always, there are bespoke Pegasus accessories from Bailey’s own parts outlet, Prima Leisure.
Rivals come close but none, it seems, can get quite near to matching the Bailey Bologna formula of twin axle, extra-wide body, L-shaped lounge, transverse island bed and full end washroom.
Verdict: Space, comfort and luxury combined to great effect
Plus: So much living space, large island bed, comprehensively equipped
Minus: Microwave oven directly above hob, washroom lacks a window…and a second shower outlet
In-a-nutshell: Big Bologna ticks all the boxes
Alternatives: Adria Alpina 632 UC Mississippi, Buccaneer Skyliner Cruiser, Coachman Laser 875 Xtra, Elddis Avante Apex 554, Swift Challenger Grande 580
