It’s not a new name, but it’s a completely revised model. The 2027 incarnation of Coachman’s Lusso III has an island double bed and end washroom (previous versions came with permanent single beds). It means all four models are now twin axle variants on the transverse island bed theme – all with their head end on the offside, too.

The full Lusso III floorplan also includes inward-facing front settees – representing a first for any Lusso – along with the same centre kitchen arrangement as its stablemates.
All Lusso’s have the extra-wide 2.44m / 8ft wide body, too. And of course share the same build characteristics and qualities for which Coachman has long been lauded.

In this video, we take a quick walkthrough of the 2027 Coachman Lusso III caravan:
As Coachman’s flagship line-up, you pay the price. Ex-works, the Lusso III is £56,000, but Coachman is using the 2027 season to hike up the on-the-road charges to £895.

With a starting weight of 1,825kg to contend with, no doubt you’ll have already forked out a premium for a luxury heavyweight towcar, too. And, although the MTPLM is officially 1,985kg, it’s the upgrade to 2,200kg that gives you a handy 375kg payload, at the same time adding a cheeky £45 to your price.
Then again, such are the levels of equipment as standard you might not necessarily feel the need to add more kit apart from just your clothing, kitchenware and outdoor furniture.

The Lusso looks have been tweaked to 2027, with new full-length graphics as well as five-spoke alloy wheels in a matt grey finish, adding to what has long been a distinctive, fully bonded appearance that includes moulded ABS front and rear panels – all backed by a 10-year water ingress warranty.

Also here is a 120Watt solar panel along with external gas, shower and 230V electric fittings, plus LED lighting to the awning and offside, while it runs on a two-piece Al-Ko chassis with Euro axle and shock absorbers for a smoother ride.

For those all-important beds, the settees make up to singles (1.95m x 0.77m) or a double (1.95m x 1.37m), while the island double is 1.87m x 1.36m. The latter has an easy lift-up base for access to the storage space below, along with a superior foam mattress, padded headboard, touch operated reading lights on stalks, cabinets to each side and a quartet of overhead lockers.

A “media wall” takes up much of the nearside, all set up for you to watch TV from bed, and is flanked by lots of wardrobes and locker space. There’s also a Bluetooth speaker system along with 4G-ready Wi-Fi

In the kitchen, there’s the full kit quota – Thetford cooker with cast iron pan rest, flatbed microwave oven, extractor unit etc.

The L-shaped unit also helps optimise storage and worktop space, with deep drawers and slide out racking.

Lusso watchers will have noticed the new inset sink and black mixer tap, probably also the updated control knobs and black handles on the cooker.

The fridge/freezer is across the corridor – a 159-litre model from Thetford.

At the back, the washroom maintains the same levels of luxury and practicality as the kitchen.

There’s a generous shower cubicle on the nearside and the swivel-bowl toilet takes up the opposite corner, with a handbasin partly-inset in the middle.

Fittings – a ladder radiator, showerhead and pipe, toilet roll holder, mixer tap etc – are in the black finish that’s on-trend right now.

Criticisms of the Lusso III caravan are pretty petty. The concertina divider between the bedroom and the front end seems a bit downmarket, and the microwave oven’s location directly over the hob won’t be liked by everyone.
As you’ve probably suspected, the specification is sky-high. Items like E & P’s self-levelling system (now with a fixed control panel) and Truma’s Compact air conditioning – which also operates in conjunction with the Alde central heating and hot water system – are among the highlights.
Again, Coachman has upped the ante by also including a Scorpion S7 tracking system with the first year’s subscription. And that’s finally where some savings can be made – on your annual caravan insurance premium!

Verdict: From the very top drawer
Plus: Quality build, comfortable, spacious, sky-high spec’
Minus: Hefty on weight and price, microwave is directly over the hob
In-a-nutshell: Lusso lacks for little
Alternatives: Adria Alpina 623 HT Rio Grande, Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor, Knaus Nordwind 660 PXB, Buccaneer Starliner Cruiser, Swift Conqueror Grande 645
