One of two van conversion campervans from Coachman that’s being introduced for the 2027 season. You can choose between the end lounge VL65 or the model on review here, the rear transverse bed VR65. Both use Fiat’s ever-popular Ducato, with 140bhp engine and eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.

In this video we take a quick look around the 2027 Coachman Veloce VR65 campervan:
Expedition Grey is the exterior colour, complemented by black alloy wheels, a 4m awning and other trimwork in the same colour, while underneath is a 20-litre gas tank from Propex – a fitting that really does free up interior space (because it means you don’t need a gas locker inboard).

Other useful base vehicle bits of kit include a reversing camera and an infotainment system with a 10 inch touchscreen providing DAB radio, satellite navigation and all the usual connectivities.

The VR65 floorplan springs few surprises. The sliding door is on the UK nearside and comes with a full flyscreen, opening to reveal a front lounge using both cab seats swivelled and a forward-facing bench.

A side-fixing table with a swing-out extension slots in here for on-site use.

The kitchen and washroom sit mid-‘van. But arguably the VR65’s trump card is its permanent rear double bed (1.9m x 1.55m) that rises up and down electrically at the touch of a button, so you can alter the bed height – all the way up to ceiling level, should you wish – depending on how much luggage you want to transport in the space below.

It also comes with a clever slide-out, folding step to ease access.
Sister model VL65 has virtually the same floorplan, but with inward-facing settees for a rear lounge to convert at bedtime to a 1.84m x 1.54m double bed.

The kitchen comprises a campervan-style two-ring gas hob and sink combination, plus a Thetford combined oven and grill. Also here is a 90-litre compressor fridge with freezer, again from Thetford.

Storage includes a large locker that houses two drawers, plus there’s a lift-up worktop extension.

Across the corridor and over on the offside, the washroom – accessed by a double tambour door – offers the usual shower, toilet and countertop basin handwashing facilities, with details such as the towel holder, toothbrush mug holder, mixer tap, showerhead and more in black.

Heating and hot water are from Whale – the former a 6kW blown air system, the latter an Expanse model with eight-litre tank.

Again, the main units here are fitted underfloor to help optimise interior storage space. Ditto for the 90-litre fresh and 45-litre waste water tanks, both of which are heated and insulated. For the main bodywork, there’s foam thermal and sound absorbing insulation from specialist supplier Vita.

The Veloce is lavishly equipped. Standard kit includes a 100Ah lithium leisure battery, Avtex 19in smart TV, Teleco Wi-Fi router, large opening sunroof over the cab, solar panel and much more, topped off with a campervan insurance-friendly tracking system from Sargent.

Other neat touches include the magnetic strip that allows the table to be used outdoors attached to the vehicle, the floor storage location for the same table when driving, the useful ledge for rear bed users, and the clip-on cup holder convenient for rear seat travellers.
Throughout this campervan, the materials used and overall styling stand out for their premium nature. Could Veloce be the campervan that see Coachman finally get a foothold the van conversion sector?
