Motorhome cooking has come a long way from just boiling a kettle on the hob. With compact appliances and clever accessories now available, cooking in a motorhome doesn’t mean compromising on good food.
In fact, judging by the hundreds of votes we received in our recent poll, many of you are kitted out with some brilliant – and sizzling – kitchen kit!
We recently asked motorhome owners for their top motorhome cooking accessory, and more than 400 of you voted and shared your favourites. Some voted for more than one gadget, with 11% choosing ‘other’ – proving that there’s no shortage of variety when it comes to cooking in a motorhome.
The results are in, and here’s your top 10 favourite motorhome cooking accessories, ranked by popularity.
1. BBQs (including Cadac grills)
Taking the top spot was the good old barbecue, with 26% of the votes and many adding Cadac’s Safari Chef and Carri Chef models to the list, plus a few nods to gas BBQs and the Campingaz Party Grill.
For many, cooking and eating outdoors is part of the joy of motorhoming – and a BBQ means less mess inside and more flavour outside.
2. Air Fryer
A close second, the air fryer continues to grow in popularity with motorhomes.
Compact, energy-efficient and quick to use, air fryers are fast becoming a motorhome kitchen staple. Whether it’s chips, chicken, or even a full English, they’re perfect for quick, mess-free meals on the road.
3. Microwave
Still a firm favourite, a microwave is ideal for heating up leftovers, ready meals or a quick cuppa soup – especially when you’re hooked up on site.
Many motorhome models come with one as standard, but 17% of voters clearly value its convenience.
4. Coffee Makers
It seems like we’re a nation of coffee lovers! From bean grinders to presses and even stove-top pots, good coffee is an essential for many motorhome owners.
If you like your morning brew, why settle for instant when you can enjoy barista-style brews on the go?
5. Remoska
Compact, efficient and versatile, the Remoska is a one-pot wonder that’s ideal for small spaces.
Roast, bake or simmer – it does it all using minimal power, making it a perfect motorhome cooking companion.
6. RidgeMonkey
Great for toasties, fry-ups and even cakes, the RidgeMonkey has found a loyal fan base with motorhomes, gaining 11% of our top motorhome cooking accessory votes.
It’s compact, easy to store, and great for both gas and electric hobs.
7. Stacking pan set
Space-saving kitchen gear is a winner in any motorhome. Space-saving and practical, stacking pans are ideal for motorhomes and campervans with limited locker space.
They’re perfect for cooking multi-dish meals without cluttering your cupboards.
8. Electric grills
From George Foreman grills to teppanyaki grills and griddle pans, these compact and often low-wattage appliances proved popular with an eight per cent share of the votes.
They offer quick and low-fat cooking indoors or outside and are handy if you’re watching your gas usage.
9. Slow cooker
Perfect for prepping a meal before a day out and coming back to dinner ready to eat. A slow cooker is a “set-it-and-forget-it” favourite for many who like their meals warm, hearty and hassle-free.
10. Gas oven with grill and hob
In tenth place with six per cent of the votes, the traditional gas oven with grill and hob is still holding strong.
Great for any motorhome meal, whether that’s baking, frying, or grilling indoors, your motorhome cooker comes into its own when you don’t fancy heading outside, especially in rubbish weather.
Other motorhome cooking mentions
Some responses made us smile, including votes for a “wife” or “partner” as their top motorhome cooking accessory! Among the 11% who selected “other,” we saw plenty of quirky choices – including induction hobs, sandwich toasters, Dutch ovens, and even a Ninja 10-in-1 cooker.
Choosing the right motorhome cooking accessory depends on your style of touring, how much space you have, and whether you spend most of your time hooked up or off-grid. But one thing’s for sure – great kit to make great food can make your adventures even more enjoyable!
